Wind & Water Doula Care’s Core Values

  • Birth can be empowering, spiritual, healing, transformative, redemptive, and joyful.

    -Jen Walts

  • Your family’s committed preparation will significantly impact your birth experience.

    -Jen Walts

  • What impacts your birth outcome the most: your brain, your baby’s position in utero, and your trust in your chosen providers & support team.

    -Jen Walts

  • You bring unique bodily wisdom to the birthing space; it should be respected, honored, and listened to deeply.

    -Jen Walts

  • Birth is a nervous system event- it doesn’t necessarily need to be a medicalized event.

    -Jen Walts

  • It is critical for you to build a set of tools to help you regulate your nervous system through the birthing process.

    -Jen Walts

  • Birth is the greatest act of simultaneous surrender and strength. You will need to dig deep for a power you've never known.

    -Jen Walts

  • The science of birth is a miracle, and medicinal tools & practitioners are important if physiology presents us with a true problem that needs assistance.

    -Jen Walts

  • Your family has the right to refuse medical interventions at any time on your journey, and working with a doula will help you build confidence in asking the right questions in these moments.

    -Jen Walts

  • We need to take radical responsibility to make informed decisions for our body, baby, and birth.

    -Jen Walts

  • Bodily autonomy should be the standard of maternal care, but only self-advocacy will achieve this within our current healthcare system.

    -Jen Walts

  • Self-advocacy or advocating for a partner are skills you will need during labor, birth, and postpartum regardless of birthing location.

    -Jen Walts

  • Working alongside a doula & childbirth educator will provide you with the time & space to strengthen your voice.

  • Business Name Demystified

So, why the name "Wind & Water Doula Care"?

  • Wind ( Breath) and Water (Movement/ Flow) are both essential to the miraculous process of labor & birth.

  • The way we breathe & move through the layers of each day impacts every aspect of life- including birth and parenting.

  • Water and wind- and many elements of nature encourage us feel most alive. Birth, an act connected to Mother Nature, can invite us to feel most alive.

  • Breath & Movement are anchors for grounding, coping, regulating, and reminding yourself you are safe.

  • Birth is as complex, powerful, and sacred as the elements of wind & water.

  • You are Wind: Breathing life, calming, grounding, stabilizing, energizing, navigating, cleansing, strengthening

  • You are Water: moving, flowing, rhythmic, restful, peaceful, rising, deep, vast, dancing, sun and moon, cyclical, fresh, knowing
